Think 'rabbity'. The tank in the last post is a perfect example of this. You can see where the artist has tried to work in some ears, or even just the general shape of them makes you think along the lines of that.
Try some extreme stylisations perhaps? Make the reloading mechanism (like on a shotgun) into a carrot, for example. Then we can work between that and these good simple ideas, find a happy medium that looks cool.
As for these designs, I'd like to see something more developed of a combination of the middle 2. I like the classic rifle barrel thing going on there.
